Elberadweg - Elbe Cycle Path

Here through the idyllic Elbe meadows, there directly on the Elbe dyke - on the Elbe Cycle Path you can experience the big river again and again and stay in motion.

The Elbe Cycle Path with its length of 1,220 km stretches from the source in the Giant Mountains "Riesengebirge" to Cuxhaven on the North Sea. In 2011, it was voted the most popular cycle path in Germany for the seventh consecutive year by members of the German Cyclists Association (ADFC).

Along the Elbe, the road goes from Hamburg to Geesthacht, Lauenburg, Bleckede, Hitzacker and Lenzen up tp Wittenberge and beyond. Large parts of the route are on the right side of the Elbe but also on the left.

The Elbe Cycle Path shows no differences in height except for the section between Hitzacker and Geesthacht. Here you can cross the river using the ferries or the bridges available.

For more information on the various sections of the route, the cyclist-friendly hospitality businesses, cycling tour organisers and useful tips, see HERE. Please also note the information provided there on the navigability of the Elbe Cycle Path and the information on floodings and ferry service.
