About Kurs Elbe and our partners

Project

The Kurs Elbe project has been a cross-state cooperation project between six districts from five federal states along the Elbe since 2012. The aim is to further develop the section of the Elbe between Hamburg and Wittenberge as a local recreation and tourism region and to jointly create a network of overarching tourism offers for guests.

Bezirk Bergedorf (Hamburg)

The green district, which borders on both Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony, is Hamburg’s largest district and has a lot to offer tourists as well as numerous shopping opportunities: the historic old town, the churches, meadows and fields, the Elbe and dykes, its own city harbour, the observatory, Hamburg’s only castle and much more.

Kreis Herzogtum Lauenburg:

The Duchy of Lauenburg stretches between Lübeck in the north, Lake Schaalsee in the east, the River Elbe in the south and Hamburg in the west. What makes this endearingly rural region so unique is its diversity: water, forest, meadows, fields and rolling countryside characterise its lovely landscape. A medieval trade route runs through the centre of the region and is now a long-distance cycle route. And the historic towns tell exciting stories.

Landkreis Harburg:

The district borders the marshes of the Lower Elbe in the north-east. To the north-west is the Harburger Berge mountain range, where the 155 metre high Hülsenberg is also the highest point in the district and borders on the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. In the south, it includes parts of the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park and the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve within it, as well as parts of the Stade Geest. Special features such as the watermill in Karoxbostel or the moated castle in Winsen (Luhe) as well as the famous Luhe Gardens and the harbours on the Elbe characterise the district.

Landkreis Lüneburg:

The district of Lüneburg lies to the south of Hamburg between the Elbe valley and the Lüneburg Heath. The Elbe flows through it, separating the district of Neuhaus and parts of Bleckede along the former border from the rest of the district. Special features of the towns on the Elbe side are the boat lift in Scharnebeck, the Biosphaerium in the half-timbered town of Bleckede with its beaver enclosure, the Ark Region in Amt Neuhaus and the location in the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve and the Elbhöhen- Wendland Nature Park and the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park. ede justo, fringilla vel, aliquet nec, vulputate eget, arcu.

Landkreis Ludwigslust-Parchim:

The holiday region of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, which includes the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim, stretches between the largest metropolises in northern Germany, Berlin and Hamburg. Water landscapes, forests and meadows characterise the picture. Towns and villages with an interesting history are embedded in an unspoilt landscape where you can still experience the unique diversity of flora and fauna. Over 1000 years of history can be felt everywhere – brick architecture, village churches, mills, restored castles and lovingly furnished museums add to the holiday experience.

Landkreis Prignitz:

Prignitz is the oldest region in the Mark Brandenburg and has an eventful history. Numerous castles and manor houses, churches and round villages, as well as historic burial sites, bear witness to this to this day. The cultural infrastructure of Prignitz is on the one hand typical of culture in rural areas and on the other hand has atypical, unique characteristics and special features. These contrasts in combination with the beauty and unspoilt nature of the landscape characterise the special charm of the Prignitz cultural landscape.

Kooperationspartner Elberadweg:

The Elbe cycle path is one of the most varied cycle paths in Europe and leads directly along the river past exciting sights in our region and invites you to linger in a restaurant.
