The Elbe River Course Day
Bleckede. The Elbe River Course Day is traditionally celebrated on the banks of the Elbe in Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein and in Hohnstorf in Lower Saxony on Sunday, 28 April 2019. In both directions of the Elbe, the ships and boats between Hamburg and Wittenberge come to join this maritime event and to celebrate the start of the season in 2019. The varied program on both sides of the Elbe with live music, maritime markets and water activities offers fun and entertainment for everyone. The highlight is the joint ship parade, which visitors can enjoy on the ships or from the banks of the Elbe.
The opening is on the stage in front of the Hohnstorfer jetty at 11 am. This major maritime event ends around 6 pm after the ship parade. Attending the event is free of charge.
The highlight at 3 pm might be once again the big ship parade, in which the following will take part: them the salon ship "Aurora", the "Lüneburger Heide", the "Herzog von Lauenburg", the historic ships, paddle steamer "Kaiser Wilhelm", the barges "Piep" and "Erich Schröder", harbor tug "Elbe", "President Schäfer", "Ottenstreuer" and "Sperber". Of course, it is possible to visit a variety of ships or participate in tours.
The Elbe River Course Day "Kurs-Elbe-Tag" was initiated as part of the cooperation project "Kurs Elbe. Hamburg to Wittenberge ". The event is organized by the city of Lauenburg (Elbe), the joint municipality of Scharnebeck and the municipality of Hohnstorf (Elbe) in cooperation with the project office, the Elbe boaters and the fire brigades from Artlenburg, Hohnstorf and Lauenburg. The event is supported by the German Life-Saving Association.
